NTA Photo and Signature Specs: NEET, JEE and CUET in One Guide (Free)
One imaging rulebook covers most NTA entrances: NEET, JEE Main and CUET all ask for a JPEG photo between 10 and 200 KB framed at 3.5 x 4.5 cm, and a signature between 10 and 50 KB captured in dark ink on white paper.
The wide photo band tricks applicants into uploading anything; the signature band rejects more files than any other step. Here is what to prepare and in which order.
What the uploader validates
Format JPEG, photo weight inside 10-200 KB with the face centred on a plain light background, signature inside 10-50 KB cropped tight to the strokes on white.
- Recent NTA cycles have held these bands; your current application notice always wins if it differs.
The uploader checks weight and format only; content rules like background and framing are verified later by reviewers.
Prepare photo first, signature second
- Crop to head-and-shoulders, then compress into the 10-200 KB band, aiming mid-band around 80-150 KB.
- Photograph the signature on plain white paper in even light; crop tight before compressing into 10-50 KB.
- Keep both files named clearly; the form asks for them back to back.
- Nothing is uploaded during preparation; everything runs in your browser.
Why mid-band matters at NTA
NTA servers re-encode uploads for reviewer queues; a file at 199 KB can cross 200 after their pass and fail at the next edit window. Mid-band files survive re-encoding.
Signatures suffer the opposite edge: under 10 KB the strokes fragment, and NTA rejects blurred signs during verification.
Content rules reviewers check later
Neutral expression, no cap or sunglasses, face fully visible unless religious covering with clear face outline. White or off-white background without shadows behind shoulders.
Signature in black or deep blue ink; pencil or grey pen signs get queried at document verification.
