Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026 · Plain-language summary below, full detail after it.

PdfPixel is built so that the private thing you are working on stays private. This page explains — without legal fog — what happens to your documents and what little data the website collects.

The short version

1. Your files and documents

When you choose a PDF, it is read directly by your browser. All merging, splitting, compressing, editing and rendering happens on your device using local CPU and memory. The finished file is written back out by your browser as a download.

We cannot access, read, store, log or recover your documents. If you close the tab before saving, the in-memory copy is gone — that is a property of the architecture, not a limitation. Keep your original file as the master copy of anything important.

2. What the website collects

We do not collect: file names, file contents, document metadata, the text of anything you type into a tool, your name, your email address, your payment details (there is nothing to pay) or your exact address.

3. Cookies

PdfPixel itself sets no cookies to make the tools work — there is no login and no cart. The only cookies present come from analytics, and they are only set after the analytics script loads:

CookiePurposeTypical lifetime
_gaDistinguishes one browser from another so visits can be counted correctlyUp to 2 years
_ga_S4XRVK3LSWKeeps the session state for this specific propertyUp to 2 years

You can delete or block these at any time in your browser settings. Blocking them does not affect any PDF tool — the processing code is embedded in the page itself.

4. Advertising

The plan is to keep the suite free without a premium tier, which may mean funding part of it with advertising. If advertising such as Google AdSense is switched on, then:

5. Cloud storage pickers

The interface shows Google Drive and Dropbox buttons marked SOON. They are placeholders today and connect to nothing. If they are enabled later, the file picker is served by Google or Dropbox inside their own domain and your use of it is governed by their privacy policies — the selected file would still be processed locally in your browser.

6. Legal bases and your rights

Where the GDPR applies, our legal basis for analytics is legitimate interest in understanding aggregate usage; where consent is required for advertising, it is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or restrict processing of personal data, to object to it, and to complain to your local data protection authority. For India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 applies on the same principles. To exercise any right, email us — because we hold no document data and no account, most requests resolve immediately.

7. Data retention

Document data: never retained — it never reaches us. Analytics data: retained in Google Analytics under its default user-data retention setting (up to 14 months) and then deleted. Server logs: kept by Cloudflare briefly for security and then rotated out.

8. Security

The site is served over HTTPS with HSTS enabled. Because there is no upload, no database of user documents and no account system, the categories of data that are usually stolen in a breach simply do not exist here. That is the main reason the architecture was chosen.

9. Children

PdfPixel is a general-purpose document tool, not a child-directed service, and it is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. International transfers

Analytics data is processed by Google on its global infrastructure, which may involve transferring data outside your country under Google's standard contractual clauses.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above changes with it, and material changes — such as enabling advertising — will be called out on this page rather than slipped in silently.

12. Contact

Privacy questions answered

Can you see or open my PDF files?
No. Files are read into your browser's own memory and processed there. There is no upload step, no server-side queue and no storage bucket, so there is no copy of your document anywhere for us to open.
How do I opt out of the analytics?
Install Google's official Analytics opt-out browser add-on, enable "Do Not Track" or block googletagmanager.com in your browser or ad-blocker. Every tool keeps working normally without analytics — nothing is gated behind it.
Will PdfPixel show ads in the future?
The site is free and has no premium tier, so advertising is one of the ways it may be funded. If Google AdSense is enabled, this page will list the ad cookies used and the tools to opt out before any ad is served.
