Crop Image Online Free: Exact Pixels, Aspect Lock, No Upload

4 min read · Updated 2026-10-21 · PdfPixel

Cropping is the cheapest quality upgrade in photography: cut the distractions, keep the subject, and the same pixels suddenly compose. It is also the step portals demand, when a form wants a passport ratio or a listing wants a square.

The Image Cropper gives you a drag box with live ratio options, runs entirely in your browser and exports at the exact pixel dimensions you set.

The crop workflow

  1. Open Image Cropper and add the photo; it renders locally at full resolution.
  2. Drag the box over the subject; pick an aspect ratio (free, square, 3:4 for ID photos, 16:9 for banners) or type exact output pixels.
  3. Fine-tune with the arrow keys or the numeric size fields when a portal specifies dimensions to the pixel.
  4. Crop and download; the output reports its final size so you can verify before uploading to the form.

Aspect ratio versus exact pixels

An aspect ratio protects composition: 3:4 stays 3:4 at any size, which is what passport and ID-photo rules actually specify. Exact pixels protect a spec: 600 by 600 means 600 by 600.

When a rule gives both, such as 3:4 and 413 by 531 pixels, lock the ratio first, then type the pixel target; the cropper keeps the box proportional while it scales.

Cropping beats shrinking

Crop from the original each time; re-cropping a cropped copy stacks resolution loss.

For ID photos, leave headroom above the head as the spec asks, and keep the face centred.

Everything happens on-device, so unpublished product shots and personal photos stay private.

After the crop

If the destination has a KB rule, send the cropped file through the Image Compressor target-size mode; cropped images start smaller, so the compressor has less work to do and quality survives better.

Need the crop on a PDF page instead? The Crop PDF tool trims page margins without re-encoding any content.

Frequently asked questions

Can I crop to an exact pixel size like 600x600?
Yes. Type the numbers into the size fields and the output matches them exactly, which is what portal validators check.
Does cropping reduce file size?
Usually, because fewer pixels remain. It is the cleanest way to shrink an image: no quality dial involved, just less picture.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The crop runs in your browser using local canvas operations; nothing is transmitted or stored remotely.
Which ratio should I use for passport photos?
Most specifications ask 3:4 or 35 by 45 mm; lock the ratio the form names, then let the passport photo tool or exact-pixel fields handle the rest.
Can I crop without losing the rest of the image?
The download contains only the cropped area, so keep the original file; crop copies, never overwrites your source.
