OCR extraction
PNG to Text | Extract Text from Screenshots (OCR)
Screenshots arrive as PNGs full of text you cannot select | paste one here and get real, editable characters back in seconds.
Open Image to TextScreenshots are OCR best-cases: flat lighting, sharp glyphs, zero camera shake.
The same Tesseract WASM engine that reads photos reads PNG screenshots, scans and exported slides | decode, recognise, output selectable text, all inside this tab.
Screenshots extract near-perfectly because the glyphs are pixel-sharp: error messages, chat logs, PDF page captures, code snippets and exam notifications all convert cleanly.
For multi-page documents, stitch or batch the PNGs through the tool one by one, or convert the set to a PDF and run OCR PDF for a searchable document in a single pass.
Can it read text from screenshots of videos?
Yes | pause on a legible frame, screenshot it, and OCR it like any PNG. Subtitle text extracts especially well.
Does the PNG size matter?
Larger is fine | very small text (under ~20 px tall) hurts accuracy. Upscale with AI Photo Enhancer first if the source is tiny.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Every pixel is processed by JavaScript inside your own browser tab | nothing is sent to a server, stored or logged, which matters when the file is an ID photo or signature.
